Quite often we get people contacting us for help in completing their own web sites. They get so far then they get stuck with something and need someone to show them how to complete the web site.

It may be adding an online form, adding Flash buttons or adding a database. Unfortunately assistance at this level is not amongst the web design services that we offer.

There are good reasons for this. Getting involved in a web site that someone else has created can be a minefield. It is very difficult to estimate how long it will take to fix the problems and compete the work and hence difficult to price the job. Unfortunately this is not a good business model.

People building DIY web sites tend not to use standard methods. they take shortcuts and use methods that cause problems that are not always apparent and that they may not be aware of.

So we are sorry, but if you are in this situation we cannot help you unless you want us to start redesigning your web site from scratch. This may not be a bad idea because making your own web site seldom works.

Similarly, we do not offer unlimited free advice to people on search engine optimization (SEO) or getting found in the search engines. To do this properly a degree of involvement is required. Free advice and consultancy on SEO is always included for clients who are using our web site design services.

Your domain name can reflect the type of business you are targeting. If you are a plumber it is worth considering placing the word plumber in your domain name. This gives you a better chance of being found by people using search engines.

If your name is John and you are a plumber you may want to consider something like www.john-plumbers.com.

WRITING WEB SITE CONTENT TIP.
Don't ask someone to build your web site without first preparing or deciding what content you want to include. Web designers do not appreciate being kept waiting for information for weeks at a time.

Please be aware that your web designer normally knows nothing about your business. You are the only one that can provide the basic content.
